Hello everyone!
In May 2023, Cyclone Mocha hit the West coast of Myanmar and Bangladesh wiping out many villages and towns that lay in itโs path. Over 90% of the capital city, Sittwe, has been completely destroyed by the cyclone. The residents there are in need of our help. They now must rebuild their city with little supplies, as well as surviving the day to day.
Many of people who live in Koh Phangan are from the region affected, including two of our amazing staff. A few weeks ago, when the cyclone hit, they could not contact their families for days. When they finally heard from them, they learned that their villages and every man made structure in them had been totally destroyed by the storm.
Because these guys are such legends, and because the people of Myanmar are already going through a really, really rough time – with the military committing war crimes against the people left right and centre โ we decided we would try and help.
So, for the next week at Tiki, we are going to raise as much money as we can to help those in the Rakhine State in Myanmar that have been deeply affected by category 5 Cyclone Mocha.
We will be having an event this Sunday 18th June where proceeds of the BBQ buffet and signature cocktail, will go straight to the cause as well as the money from our other initiatives. Which include, a raffle with loads of cool prizes, a clothes sale, and handmade bookmarks and candles.
All week we will have different fundraising opportunities for everyone in the community to contribute so if you around then pop into Tiki Beach and grab a signature cocktail to show your support. We have also started a go fund me page which you can donate to here.
